EthylChem, Ltd. was incorporated on February 3, 2004 under the Companies Act, 1995 of Trinidad and Tobago solely for the purpose of constructing and operating an ethanol dehydration plant in Trinidad.  Since 2008, EthylChem has been funded by Denham Capital Management LP.

Plant construction and testing was completed in May of 2010.  EthylChem has been designated as a Free Zone and has been approved to operate on the site in a Free Zone status.  This means that EthylChem may import hydrous ethanol into the site, process the hydrous ethanol into anhydrous ethanol and export the anhydrous ethanol outside Trinidad without being subject to local taxation on the facility or on the ethanol itself. The Plant is fully staffed and ready to serve customers.

Technology for the EthylChem project was provided by Vogelbusch, USA.  Junior Sammy Contractors Limited of Claxton Bay, Trinidad was the construction general contractor while Lauren Engineers & Constructors of Abilene, Texas provided the engineering services.
